Although SeaDek is designed to withstand a harsh marine environment, it is important to maintain and store it properly. Under normal conditions, SeaDek is guaranteed for a period of three years. If the boat is well maintained, its life will probably be longer.
As with any flooring product, dark colors become warmer in the sun. Thanks to SeaDek’s closed-cell characteristics, the heat associated with any color will dissipate quickly.
Yes, SeaDek adheres very well to most molded anti-slip and aggregate type anti-slip paints properly applied and maintained, provided the surface is properly cleaned before installation.
SeaDek is designed for semi-permanent installation, but can be removed. The best method is to use a plastic putty knife to pass under a corner, then grab and remove it. If the PE/EVA appears to stick and tear, apply small amounts of acetone to the PSA and continue to lift with the putty knife.
The best method to clean SeaDek is to use SeaDek’s Dek Magic Cleaner, specially formulated for PE/EVA foam. If Dek Magic is not available, SeaDek cleans easily with soap, hot water and a hard brush. For stubborn areas, a number of household products can be used. Do not use acid-based cleaners such as the MaryKate shell cleaner.
SeaDek products are guaranteed free of defects at the time of purchase. The PE/EVA mixed material has a 3 year warranty on materials and workmanship.
SeaDek is extremely stain resistant, but some substances, such as fuel stabilizers, bird droppings, rust and mustard can be problematic if not treated in a timely manner. Prompt attention to these types of spills will ensure easy removal.
